E.Q: What strategies do you utilize to determine big ideas?

Identify the big ideas in literature.

Starter:

What is a big idea you  have?
What IS your next step?

Activity:

1.  USAtestprep

Please log in to your usatestprep account.

Once you are logged in, click on the activity named big ideas.

You must receive a minimum score 80 in order to move on to the next task.

For each question wrong, write the correct answer and a sentence explanation as to why that is actually the best choice.

Once you receive an 80 or higher, please show me your results and move on to activity 2.

2.  Identifying Main Ideas 

Select 10 of your favorite songs.

You will be analyzing these songs to determine the main idea.

For each song, complete the following steps:

First, copy and paste the song lyrics into a Google document.

Annotate: Highlight important/key ideas and comment on the lyrics using the tool.

 Fill out one of these graphic organizers. 

By the end of the day, you should have 10 of these organizers filled out. 

 

Closure:

Using the learning target, are you at level 1, 2, 3, or 4 when determining big ideas?

Explain that status.
